  1. First I’ll wish for you a swift and total escape from the RA and fibromyalgia.

    Next, as to the “What’s your secret?” question. I get that often. It was truly never my intent to lose weight. As a fat person I was unapologetic and assertively defiant. And I have been an activist agsinst anti-fat bigotry for more than forty years, including stints as Publicity Chair and Co-Chair of the Connecticut Chapter of NAAFA in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I was fat from birth (although my siblings escaped that genetic whack) and I further impaired my metabolism at age 21 with a diet which increased my setpoint weight significantly. So I absolutely do *not* recommend attempts at weight loss.

    So, in response to the “What’s your secret?” inquiry I only ever offer this:

    Here are my Rules For Healthful Eating:

    “Eat whatever you want, whenever you want it, and as much as you want.”
    Note, though, that it must *really* be what you want. In other words, if you want ice cream don’t have frozen yogurt.
    And another thing: stop regarding foods as either “clean” or “junk”. You could be either flattering them or hurting their feelings.
    Also, it’s not so much about the food as it is about the spirit (gusto) with which you consume it.
    And pay no attention to “experts”. They judge everything, but know nothing.
